Tried a Moka pot vs. my usual drip machine for a month straight
I picked up a $15 Bialetti from a thrift store last month and switched from my Mr. Coffee drip machine. After using the Moka pot for 30 days, the coffee just tastes richer and smoother without any fancy add-ins. The trick I found was using a medium grind instead of fine to avoid that burnt flavor. Has anyone else switched methods and noticed a big difference with cheap beans?
Used to be a hardcore drip guy, thought Moka pots were just a fancy way to burn coffee. But last year I grabbed an old one at a garage sale for $2 and gave it a real try. Ground my cheap store brand beans a little coarser than espresso grind and it was night and day. That muddy, watery taste I got from my drip machine just disappeared. Now I get why people swear by them, even for budget coffee it's a massive upgrade.
