Shoutout to the thrift store lady who hooked me up with a vintage pencil cup
I was at this little Goodwill in Tucson last Saturday digging through a box of old mugs when this elderly volunteer walks over and hands me this dented tin cup with a faded cartoon dog on it. She said she'd been hiding it behind the register for a week cause she knew someone would want it for their desk. I cleaned it up with some baking soda and now it holds all my sharpies and highlighters perfectly. Has anyone else found hidden desk decor gems at weird places like that?

Baking soda isnt the best for cleaning old tin actually, it can be a little abrasive and scratch the surface. Toothpaste or a mild soap works better for that kind of vintage metal. But hey, at least you rescued it from the back room where that nice lady stashed it for you. Goodwill volunteers are the real MVPs for stuff like that, they know exactly what people will actually use. That dog cartoon sounds like it could be from the 70s or 80s, which is way cooler than something you'd buy at an office store. Hope you find more hidden treasures like that.

Hold up, she hid it behind the register for a whole week just for you? That's next level dedication from a thrift store volunteer.
