The debate on fluid preheating for better fog output

I always thought running cold fluid through my machine was fine until I tried preheating it in a water bath at 130 degrees for my Halloween setup last year. The fog was way thicker and lasted longer, but I also had to clean out residue twice as often. Is the extra maintenance worth it, or am I just overcomplicating things?

Sounds like you traded one type of laziness for another. You get thicker fog but now you're scrubbing goo twice as often. Might as well just buy a better fog machine if you want that kind of output without the hassle. Or just accept your current fog is fine and chill out with the water bath experiments.

Yeah I went through the same thing last winter. @brooke484 I actually found a middle ground that worked better than the full water bath thing. Instead of preheating that hot, I just warmed my fluid to room temp by keeping the bottle near a radiator for a few hours before filling the tank. Got noticeably thicker fog without the crazy residue buildup. Also switched to a different fluid brand that runs cleaner overall. So maybe tweak the temp down a bit before giving up on preheating entirely.
