Noticed a huge difference in my dog's recall after 3 weeks of high value treats only at the park
Started bringing liverwurst instead of kibble to the off leash area and my golden retriever actually comes back now instead of pretending she didn't hear me, has anyone else had luck switching up their treat game like that?

Respectfully, that sounds like a management tool more than actual training, not a long term fix. My dog just gets more excited for the high value stuff at first then starts expecting it every time, losing the novelty. Building real recall through trust and proofing in different spots stuck way better for us than just switching bait at the park lol.

Evanr79 is right that novelty wears off, but that's exactly why you rotate the high value stuff instead of sticking with one thing. I use liverwurst one week, cheese the next, then hot dog pieces, then back to liverwurst later. Keeps them guessing and the value stays high without building that expectation you're talking about @evanr79.
