Bought a $15 heat gun to strip paint off an old dresser and it saved me 4 hours of sanding
I picked up this cheap heat gun from Harbor Freight last Saturday because I was tired of sanding layer after layer of old paint off a dresser I found on the curb. Figured if it was garbage I'd return it, but honestly it melted through 30 years of paint in like 10 minutes flat. No blisters on my hands or weird fumes from chemical strippers either. Has anyone else tried one of these for furniture flip projects or am I just late to the party?

Melting through paint that fast sounds like it would also melt the wood underneath.

Wait but doesn't that thing just scorch the wood right off the bat? I borrowed my neighbor's once and it left burn marks all over my table legs before I even got through one layer of paint. You must have the touch of a surgeon or something cause mine just made the whole room smell like a campfire and ruined the finish underneath. I ended up throwing it in the garage and went back to sandpaper cause at least I could control where the damage went. Maybe I just got a dud or used it wrong but I'm scared to pick one up again after that disaster.
