Bought a 'vintage' lamp at a flea market for $40 and it was just a taillight from a 1987 Ford Taurus wired to a desk clamp

Guy said it was an original 1950s architect lamp. Got it home, flipped the switch, and the bulb melted the plastic housing in about 3 minutes. Looked up the serial number on the base and it was literally from an auto parts catalog. My roommate still uses it as a nightlight in the garage but it flickers every time someone walks by. Anyone else get scammed by a flea market seller with a straight face?

That seller definitely knew what they were doing lol. At least you got a working light out of it in the end though!
