Got told I was stupid for running my cutterhead at 85% power in hard clay near Richmond last month

Old timer at the dock said I'd burn out the motor, but the super soft clay wasn't breaking up right at lower speeds and I cleared the whole section in 3 hours without a single jam, so who was right? Has anyone else found that sticking to the manual's rpm limits makes things harder in certain soils?

Ballsy" is one word for it. I ran a chainsaw at full throttle in wet pine once and it actually caught fire.

That 85 percent is ballsy, but I've run my saw wide open through clay before and it just worked.
