Why do some new dredge models have such tiny access panels for maintenance?

In my view, designing gear that's hard to fix just invites more breakdowns in the field.

Totally agree that bad design causes more failures. When access is terrible, basic greasing gets skipped and bolts stay loose because nobody can reach them. That tiny panel means a whole pump pull for a two minute fix, which just costs way more downtime later. It's like they never asked a mechanic what actually needs checking every shift.

Did engineers ever watch maintenance happen before finalizing designs?

Ugh, I feel that so hard. It's like they design the perfect machine on a screen but forget people have to touch it. Makes you wonder if they ever left the office.
