Had to choose between portrait and landscape for my second monitor

I debated this for like two weeks straight. Everyone online said portrait is great for coding or reading docs, but I do a lot of video editing and spreadsheet work. I tried portrait mode for 3 days and my neck hurt from looking up and down so much. Switched back to landscape and everything just fits better side by side. What kind of work made you pick your orientation?

Nah, portrait is definitely the way to go. You just need to tilt your head a tiny bit and it saves so much desk space. Landscape on a second monitor feels like looking at a weird movie screen all day.

You mentioned "tilt your head a tiny bit" and that's exactly what I found works best for me too. I used to be a landscape defender all the way until I tried portrait for coding and reading long documents. Now my main screen is landscape and my secondary is portrait, and I actually turn my chair a bit instead of my head. @lewis.drew you are right about the desk space, it really opens things up. I also noticed I get less eye strain with portrait for certain tasks, which was a big bonus I didn't expect.
