Can we talk about how I used to just guess on reno budgets and now I use a spreadsheet that tracks every nickel?
Back in 2019 I bid a basement reno in Edmonton by eyeballing material costs and I ended up $3,200 over because I forgot to price out the drywall tape and mud, but now I plug everything into a shared Google sheet with line items for each trade and it's saved me from losing money on two jobs since last summer - has anyone else found a better way to track their bids on the fly?
Buddy of mine tried the napkin math method on a kitchen flip in Calgary. Ended up eating $4k because he forgot plumbing rough-in costs. Swears by Jobber now.
Heard that story before, plumbing always sneaks up on people. Did the software actually save him on his next job or was it more about catching what he missed the first time?
