Got asked to fix a 'stuck' elevator at a new condo building in Phoenix

The owner was convinced the doors wouldn't open because the floor was off by a quarter inch. I get there, check the level, and it's perfect. Turns out he was just leaning on the 'Door Open' button for a full 30 seconds before pressing his floor number. He looked at me and said, 'Well, the manual didn't say not to.' Ever had a call where the fix was just telling someone how to use the buttons?

That forty minute drive for the glove thing is actually a big deal. I mean, it's not just about the lock. If a system is new to someone, they can't always guess how it works. I've seen people get totally stuck on stuff that seems obvious later. The call makes sense because they need the help to use the thing they paid for. It's not a minor issue if you're the one locked out.

Sounds like a pretty minor issue to get a service call for.

Last month I drove forty minutes because a guy swore his new smart lock was broken. The deadbolt wouldn't turn. He was trying to use the fingerprint scanner with his glove on. I just stood there and watched him do it three times before he figured it out.
