A client told me my extractions were too aggressive and she was right

About three months ago, a regular came in for a facial and straight up said, "Mark, that hurts, you're pushing way too hard." I was using my usual stainless steel tool on her nose. I realized I'd gotten into a fast, forceful habit to clear pores quickly. I switched to a lighter touch with a comedone extractor that has a softer silicone tip, and I spend more time softening the area with steam first. Now my clients say the process is much more comfortable. Has anyone else had to slow down a technique they thought was fine?

Wait, you were using a metal tool on someone's nose without softening the skin first? That sounds intense. No wonder she spoke up, that must have felt like a lot. Good on you for actually listening and changing your method.

Yeah, the "softening the skin first" part is key. It's not just about comfort, it's about safety. Hard skin plus metal tools can cause micro-tears you can't even see, letting in bacteria. I've seen people get nasty infections from what looked like a normal pore strip. That client speaking up probably saved herself a week of redness and swelling.
