My uncle swore by using a 4-foot level for every post, even on a hill. Tried it on a 30-foot slope in Eugene last month and it saved me hours.

Trust the old timers who have done this for years. That long level trick works way better than trying to eyeball it on uneven ground. Saved my back on more than one sloped project.

Seen guys do this. But honestly, how much time does it really save? A string line and a post level get the job done fast too. On a big slope you still have to dig the holes to different depths. That long level just seems like an extra tool to carry around.
