inMy neighbor swore I needed special 'balcony soil' for my tomatoes
Wait, you just used regular dirt from the planter box? That sounds like it would turn into concrete after a week in a pot. The soil in the ground has all sorts of microbes and worms doing the work for you, but in a container it just compacts down and smothers the roots. Bagged soil is light and fluffy for a reason, it drains better and lets air get to the roots. Glad the tomatoes bounced back for you, those $12 mixes really do save a lot of headaches.

Wait, you actually had a clause for AC breakdowns in your homeowner's policy?

inI was using the wrong layer colors for years and it finally bit me
My uncle's been doing this kind of work for 25 years and he always told me the exact opposite. He uses bright red for anything that's coming out because it's the universal "danger" color in his head. Pink seems like it could get mistaken for a highlighter on a messy set of plans. If you mix up pink with some faded red or orange under a job site light, that's how mistakes happen. He always says to use a color that has zero chance of looking like anything else on the sheet, even in bad lighting.

inTried to stack photos of the Orion Nebula and my laptop crashed 4 hours in
Man, I feel that pain. Lost a whole night of Andromeda data once because my cat knocked the power strip and the laptop just noped out.

You ever have one of those projects where you realize you were just winging it with no clue what you were doing? Reminds me of when I tried to patch a hole in my driveway back in '08 using straight Portland cement and water, no sand at all. That stuff turned into a hard but brittle mess that cracked the first winter. Had to jackhammer it out and start over with actual concrete mix.
