Spent $600 on a power auger and it was worth every penny last month

I fought with hand diggers for years on rocky ground around here. Finally bit the bullet on a used Little Beaver and ran 30 post holes in one morning that would have taken me three days. The rental cost alone would have covered half of it. Has anyone else made the switch and never looked back?

How rocky was the ground exactly, like boulder city or just shale?

Used to think rocky ground just meant a few scattered rocks you could kick aside. Then I actually spent a day on shale and it was a whole different beast. That stuff is like walking on a pile of sharp dinner plates that shift under your feet. It made me realize how much I took solid packed dirt for granted. Do you think the terrain affects how much energy people have left at the end of the day?

Hmm, is it really that different? I mean, sure shale is annoying, but boulders make you stop and climb over them, which feels way more draining to me. At least with shale you can kind of shuffle along, you know?
