A homeowner in Denver said my work was the only thing that survived their basement flood

They had a pipe burst last winter and all their furniture was ruined, but the engineered hardwood I put down three years ago dried out fine. It made me realize we don't always hear about the long-term results of our installs. What's the best water-resistant underlayment you've used for basements?

Ever tried DMX 1-Step? That stuff is solid for basements. It's a plastic dimple mat that lets water flow underneath.

Actually DMX 1-Step is the air gap membrane, not the dimple mat. The dimple board is a different product, @miller.jason. Easy mix-up though.

Honestly that's a solid point from @brooke484 about the air gap. Tbh for basements I've had good luck with a thick rubber underlayment, it seems to handle the dampness without issues.
