Just realized how many people still skip the moisture check on slabs

I was helping a friend fix a failed glue down job from last month, and the whole floor was coming up in sheets. The installer never did a calcium chloride test, just slapped it down. We pulled a section and the concrete was still dark and damp underneath. That's a $5,000 redo for the homeowner, easy. I've been doing this for twenty years, and we used to have more leeway with older adhesives, but the new stuff is unforgiving. You need that number from the meter, not just a guess. It takes an extra hour, maybe two, but it saves everything. What's the fastest way you guys get a reading when you're on a tight schedule?

Ugh, that's brutal. New adhesives are like science projects, you gotta follow the steps. I use a digital meter right on the spot, it's the only way to be sure.

We just tape plastic squares down overnight.

Cut the tape clean or just rip it off in the morning?
