Hit my 500th funeral arrangement last week and it got me thinking about the other side of this business
I hit 500 funeral arrangements last Thursday. Been a florist for about 6 years now and that number surprised me because I never really kept count before. On one hand those orders pay the bills steady and I've built good relationships with local funeral homes in town. On the other hand I wonder if I'm getting too comfortable with the sad stuff and missing out on more joyful work like weddings or birthdays. Do you guys prefer taking funeral work for the reliable income or do you push for more celebration orders. I'm curious where other florists land on this.

My buddy who runs a flower shop out in Ohio told me about this one time she delivered a funeral spray to a family that ended up being the wrong service. Like completely wrong family, wrong church, they just looked at her like she was crazy. Said she stood there holding these lilies while everyone stared and wanted to crawl into a hole. 500 arrangements is a lot to remember though.
