Switched from a basic 3M respirator to a proper PAPR unit for pouring, and the difference in air quality is like night and day.

After a week of using the new system, I'm not hacking up gray dust at the end of my shift anymore... what other gear upgrades have actually been worth the investment for you guys?

Honestly, getting a good cooling vest was a game changer for me in the summer heat. It sounds simple, but not being cooked alive inside your suit makes a huge difference in focus and how long you can work safely. Upgraded my safety glasses to a sealed goggle system too, because regular ones just let in too much fine junk from the side. That move saved my eyes more than once from a stray splash or dust cloud. It's all about finding the weak spots in your setup and plugging those holes, you know?

Which cooling vest did you get?

My uncle worked construction for 30 years with just a wet bandana and basic glasses, jason112. He says all this extra gear is overkill for most sites. I see guys now with vests and full seal goggles for simple framing work where the biggest risk is a sunburn. It feels like half the safety stuff is just for show or because some manager got paranoid after a single minor incident.
