Switched my invoicing system after losing $800 in 3 months
I used to just send invoices through email and hope people paid on time. Then I had a client string me along for 60 days on a $1200 project and I realized I had no way to track anything. A buddy in a freelance group showed me his setup with automatic reminders and late fees built in. Now I use Freshbooks and it sends a notice every 5 days after the due date. Has anyone else dealt with chasing payments and found something that works better?

My last client ghosted me on a $600 invoice and I had zero luck tracking them down either. But I actually went the opposite direction. I stopped using automated systems because they felt too pushy and cheap. I switched to just calling people three days after the due date. It sounds old school but I've gotten paid within a week every time since. People respect a real conversation more than a robot reminder. Maybe its just my industry though.

Dang @sammurray you might be onto something, I always thought calling was too awkward but this actually changed my mind.
