Found a jar of expired sauerkraut from 2022 and made a weird soup last week
Last month I cleaned out my fridge and found a jar of sauerkraut with a 2022 date on it. I almost threw it away but decided to dump it in a pot with some leftover bacon grease and a sad potato. Then I added some chicken stock that was two days from expiring and a handful of random carrots. It actually turned into this tangy, salty soup that I ate for three days straight. My roommate thought I was nuts but I swear it tasted fine and nothing bad happened. Has anyone else made a meal from something that was way past its date and it worked out?
