Remember when everyone used to strip with methylene chloride?
I was cleaning out my dad's old shop in Toledo last week and found a can of that stuff from maybe 1995. It worked crazy fast, but man, the fumes would knock you out. Now, with all the new rules, I'm using a citrus-based gel that takes overnight to work. It's slower, sure, but I don't get those splitting headaches anymore. Anyone else still have old strippers hanging around they can't even use?

Time-travel you back to shop class"? Come on, how bad could a little old smell really be?

Found a half-gallon of the old stuff in my own garage last year. The label had completely yellowed and peeled off. Did you check if that can from '95 is still liquid, or has it turned into a solid brick by now?

You actually got me curious so I went and shook the can. It sloshes, but it sounds thick, like syrup. I'm not brave enough to open it though. That stuff probably gave off fumes that could peel paint back in the day. I bet if I cracked the seal, the smell alone would time-travel me straight back to high school shop class. Some of those old chemicals just don't quit, even when they should.
