That stubborn water ring on the mahogany table finally gave up after my last attempt

Spent weeks on a mahogany table's water ring. Nothing worked, was about to strip the finish. Tried a baking soda and mineral oil paste as a last resort. Left it overnight, buffed it out, and the ring vanished.

Used toothpaste on a DVD scratch, worked weirdly well.

Baking soda and mineral oil is a new one for me. Did you measure a specific ratio, or just eyeball it into a thick paste? I’ve had mixed results with the mayonnaise trick on lighter woods, but mahogany’s a different beast with that deep finish. What was your buffing process after letting it sit, just a clean cloth? Makes me wonder if this method would work on other stubborn finish flaws, like heat marks.

Have you tested it on heat marks, @murray.andrew?
