Pro tip: bring a real magnet when you're hunting for meteorites in the desert

I spent a whole day in the Mojave last month picking up what I thought were space rocks, but my cheap fridge magnet wouldn't stick to any of them. Has anyone else found a good, strong magnet that's easy to carry out there?

I grabbed a small neodymium magnet from a hardware store for under ten bucks. It sticks to my belt loop and has enough pull to find the good stuff. That cheap fridge magnet just doesn't have the power you need for field work.

Right? Why do people even bother with those weak fridge magnets? Got a little one like @blairwhite mentioned and it's a total game changer for pulling nails out of old wood.
