Heads up: Our town hall just passed a new rule for storefront glass.

I was at the town meeting last night and they voted on stricter rules for commercial storefront glass. Now any new installs need laminated glass on the bottom three feet, which is going to change how we quote jobs. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of change and have tips on sourcing affordable laminated sheets?

Laminated glass for storefronts is usually safety tempered, so it's pricier. Custom cuts can save on waste, but the material itself costs more. Have you checked if their laminated meets the new code?

Oh man, we went through this last year. I found a local glass supplier that does custom cuts for way less than the big box stores. Just had to send them the exact specs for the 36 inch pieces. Saved us about thirty percent per sheet.

@the_wren shows local shops beat chains for lots of things.
