Just found out my old house number never existed on that street

Tbh, I was looking at Google Street View from 2012 for my first apartment in Columbus. The number 1427 isn't on any city record or old photo for that block, even though I lived there for a year. Has anyone else had an address just vanish like that?

Weird, right? I had a PO box that got deleted from the postal system once. You should check with the city's planning department, they keep the official address logs. Sometimes old numbers get retired if a property line changes.

Used to think addresses were set in stone. Had a friend who worked for the county assessor and he told me they renumber whole blocks sometimes after big surveys. Your place might have been on a split lot that got combined with another property, so they wiped the old number. Makes sense they'd clean up the records, but it's still strange to see your own home just erased like that.

My old dorm at Ohio State had a room 312 that got renumbered to 310B halfway through the year. I mean, the whole building just decided part of it didn't exist anymore. Maybe they're trying to save on mail.
