My car keys were in the fridge for three days straight

I got home from work on Monday and put my keys on the counter like always. The next morning, they were gone. I tore the apartment apart. On Wednesday, I opened the fridge to get milk and there they were, sitting on the butter dish. I live alone and have zero memory of putting them there. The weird part is, the same thing happened with my TV remote on Friday, found it in the freezer. Has anyone else had stuff just appear in appliances with no explanation?

My friend's mom went through a phase like that. She kept finding her reading glasses in the oven's warming drawer. It was always after she'd been paying bills or balancing her checkbook, so we figured it was stress. It reminds me of what @hayes.tara said about sleepwalking, because she was definitely awake. She started leaving a specific bowl on the counter for her glasses and it just stopped. The mind works in strange ways when it's tired.

My old roommate used to sleepwalk and put the salt shaker in the cupboard with the mugs. I started putting a glass of water by my bed and it actually stopped, no idea why.

That's so weird it worked for @hayes.tara. Makes me wonder if the glass of water acts like a visual anchor. Your brain sees it right before sleep and it sort of marks the boundary between being awake and asleep, so you don't drift into that automatic pilot state where you start sleepwalking and hiding the salt.
