Update: My client's 'inspiration photo' was from a cartoon character.
A regular came in with a printout of Marge Simpson's hair and insisted I copy it exactly. I had to explain that blue hair and a foot-tall beehive might not work in real life. She got upset and said her cousin did it for her wedding last year, which I highly doubt. Ended up compromising with a subtle bouffant and some temporary color spray, and she left happy but I still feel weird about it.

Picture telling a grown adult that blue beehives aren't street legal. Her cousin probably had a cartoon wedding with animated guests. Glad you dodged that bullet with some temp spray.

Hold on, maybe she had a point... I've seen crazy hair art online that looks just like cartoon stuff. With enough extensions and super strong hold spray, you could get close to that beehive shape. The blue color might not be perfect, but temporary dyes can do wild things now. Sometimes clients want that fun, over the top look and it's worth trying.

My old salon had a rule against extreme cartoon styles. Then a client brought in a picture of Jessica Rabbit and we actually nailed it with a red wig and serious backcombing. It taught me that sometimes the wild ask is just a creative challenge in disguise.
