Overheard a lawyer say 'if it's not in writing, it doesn't exist' and that hit me hard
I was waiting for my case number at the courthouse in Phoenix last Tuesday and this older lawyer said that quote to a younger guy next to her. She was talking about a property dispute where someone promised something verbally but never put it on paper. Made me think about all the times I've trusted a handshake or a text message for important stuff. Has anyone else gotten burned by relying on a verbal agreement instead of getting it documented?

Doesn't it feel like everything we think matters is just getting tossed out the window these days? I've noticed that same thing with people ignoring basic manners like holding doors or saying please, it's like we're all in such a rush we forget how to just be decent to each other. But I guess some things still count for the right people, even if they don't fit the old rules anymore.
