This week I watched a movie where the killer literally trips over a rug in the final chase scene

I mean, the tension was building for like 20 minutes and then he just faceplants into the carpet and the hero walks away. Any other films where the climax was totally ruined by something stupid like that?

Man, that is brutal. I watched this slasher flick where the final girl is cornered in a barn and the killer is slowly walking toward her with a chainsaw. All of a sudden he just slips on a pile of hay and lands face first in a horse trough. The horse trough. While she just watches for a second and then books it out the door. The whole theater laughed, all the tension was gone. I was so mad I almost walked out. It felt like the director just gave up and wanted to go home.

That "director gave up" feeling is just like when a restaurant serves you a burnt burger and hopes you don't notice.
