Serious question, why do most critics bash slow-paced films?

I saw one critic defend a quiet drama last month, and watching it with their view in mind was a real treat. It's a small win for deeper storytelling.

Honestly, who cares if a film is called boring? Taste in movies is totally personal, and what clicks for one person might not for another. It's not like it's some huge statement about art or anything.

But doesn't calling a film boring shut down talk about why it might not click for some people? Like @oliverd98 said, he loved a film others found boring, so there's more to it than just personal taste. Maybe we should ask what makes a movie feel boring instead of just brushing it off.
