Rant: Morning people keep calling 5 AM productive, but my 2 AM focus beats it every time
I've tracked my deep work sessions for 6 weeks now, and my 2 AM coding block consistently finishes tasks in half the time of my 9 AM attempts. The quiet is real, no emails, no traffic noise, just me and the screen, but every friend I mention this to insists I'm just delaying the inevitable burnout. So who's right, is the 5 AM grind actually superior or are night owls just built different for focus?

Honestly, I used to be one of those people who swore by the 5 AM thing. I figured anyone who worked at 2 AM was just being messy or avoiding discipline. But then I had a project that forced me to work late for a few weeks, and it completely flipped my opinion. The difference in my focus was wild, and I found myself getting into a flow way faster than I ever did in the morning. I think your tracking data is way more honest than any morning routine hype, and it makes total sense if your brain just naturally peaks later. Your friends mean well, but burnout comes from pushing against your own clock, not from following it.
