Just found out GoldenEye 64 had a glitch that killed speedruns for years
I was reading a speedrun wiki last night. Found out there's a door in Facility that only opens if you shoot it 64 times with the Klobb. Not 63, not 65. Exactly 64. That glitch wasted hours of my childhood. I never even knew. Has anyone else run into weird hidden triggers in old games like this?

87% of speedrunners quit right before they hit the big run. The Klobb door was added by a developer as a prank and it got found so fast because someone counted the shots on a lark, not because it ruined anything. Without silly tricks like this, speedrunning would just be a spreadsheet contest instead of a community inside joke.

Close but the number is actually 84%. Small thing but it matters for the stat. @robin_campbell36 you were right about the Klobb door though. That thing got found day one because some dude literally counted shots for no reason. Makes you wonder how many other tricks are hiding in plain sight like that. Speedrunning survives on this stuff, not on being clean.
