Parallel parking was my nemesis until I saw a minivan do it in 10 seconds

I used to swear by backing into spots because pulling in forward always left me crooked. Then last week at the Target on Elm Street, I watched a mom in a Honda Odyssey nail a tight parallel spot in one smooth sweep. She didn't even use her backup camera, just turned the wheel at the right moment. Has anyone else found a technique that clicked after years of struggling?

That mom probably made it look easy because she lined up her side mirror with the other car's taillight before turning. Getting that reference point down changed my whole approach to parallel parking too.

I guess some people just have a built-in GPS for parking and the rest of us are still reading the manual.
