My mom swore putting a cat bed on the porch would stop them from sleeping in the flower pots

She was right, three months later none of them have touched the petunias, so I guess she wins this round, anyone else have a cheap fix that actually worked better than the fancy stuff?

3 months is a solid test though, did she bait them with anything on the bed first like catnip or was it just the bed itself doing the work. I'm curious if the bed has to smell like her laundry or something to get them to switch.

Wait, did you just say "catnip" like it's some kind of guarantee? I tried that once with my own bed - dumped a whole bag of the stuff on my sheets thinking my cat would love me forever, and instead he just stared at me like I was an idiot and then went to sleep in the laundry basket. @perez.barbara I'm with you on the laundry smell idea though, because the only thing my cat seems to actually care about is if something smells like me being too lazy to fold my clothes. Three months sounds like a solid test but I bet the bed just got lucky with the right blend of human stink and that weird fabric smell they come with.
