Porch cushion foam should be illegal above 2 inches thick

I bought these thick 4 inch cushions from HomeGoods last spring and my dog can't even jump up on the porch couch anymore. She just stands there whining until I lift her up, and I'm not her personal stair lift. Has anyone else had to downgrade their outdoor furniture because their pet turned into a lazy lump?

Porch cushion foam should be illegal above 2 inches thick" - lmao I get the frustration but 4 is totally fine if you get the right firmness. Those HomeGoods ones are probably way too soft. I got some 4 inch outdoor cushions from Amazon that are super dense foam and my fat lab hops up no problem. You just gotta look for "high density" or "firm" foam specifically, or you end up with that marshmallow nonsense that swallows pets whole lol.

Yeah the firmness thing is huge, nobody talks about it enough lol. Most people just see "4 inch" and think it's automatically better but the density matters way more than the thickness. The cheap foam they pack into those mass market cushions is basically just polyfill thats been shaped into a slab, zero support. A 2 inch firm cushion is actually way more comfortable than a 4 inch soft one for sitting or for pets. I've seen German Shepherds basically disappear into those fluffy ones and then be unable to climb out, its kinda funny but also dangerous if the dog panics. If you're gonna go thick you gotta treat foam density like a non negotiable or you're just building a foam pit for your backyard.
