Tried a porch hammock for my cat and she just stares at it from the ground

I set up this little hammock on my deck last week, figured my cat would love lounging in the afternoon sun. She walked right past it, gave me a look, and now she sleeps in the cardboard box the hammock came in. Has anyone else's pet totally reject a fancy bed you bought for them?

Man that's peak cat behavior right there lol. Mine did the exact same thing with a heated bed I got for winter - spent a month sleeping in the empty delivery box instead. Pretty sure they do it on purpose just to mess with us. The cardboard box thing is extra funny because it's like they're saying "this is the real luxury item, not your fancy hammock." Maybe try putting some of her favorite treats or toys on the hammock to trick her into using it, but honestly she'll probably just ignore those too. Cats are weird little gremlins and we just gotta accept that their taste is questionable at best lmao.

that cardboard box thing always cracks me up lol. real question though - did you leave the hammock in the box when you first brought it home, or did you take it out and set it up yourself? sometimes cats need to "discover" stuff on their own terms before they'll even look at it. like if you had just left the hammock folded up in the box on the floor she probably would have been all over it, but since you actually set it up for her she's gotta play hard to get. mine will only use a new bed if she thinks she found it herself, the second she sees me putting it together she acts like its cursed lmao.
