Why does nobody talk about porch paint color and pet heat?

I tried dark gray paint on my deck last summer and my dog couldn't even lay on it by noon. Switched to a light tan this year and she naps out there for hours now. Anyone else deal with this?

100 degrees here in Phoenix last week and my dark brown deck was like a FRYING PAN at 2pm. My neighbor has the same color and she just puts a rug down for her cat. I think people make it out to be this HUGE deal but dogs adapt pretty fast. My old dog would lay on concrete in the middle of summer and not care. Plus vinyl decking doesn't get as hot as wood so color might not matter as much depending on what you used.

I hear you on the fast adaptation thing but I gotta disagree about concrete being fine. My vet told me dogs hide pain really well so just because they lay on hot surfaces doesn't mean it doesn't hurt them.
