Rant: Why does everyone suddenly want 50 bucks for a beat up old Eureka tent?

I swear, two years ago you could grab a used two-person tent for 20 bucks tops, but now I'm seeing crusty ones with missing poles listed for 50 after the pandemic camping boom. Is it just me, or did the whole market for used gear jump in price overnight?

Man, I had a buddy who snagged what he thought was a steal on one of those old dome tents last summer. Turned out the rainfly was basically a trash bag with some string attached, and it leaked like a sieve the first night out. He ended up sleeping in his car while the tent just sat there wet. The seller probably made out like a bandit for that piece of junk.
