Old SNES cart wouldn't boot, tried the boiling trick from a YouTube comment

So I saw this comment on a restoration video from some guy named RetroDave92 who swore boiling your SNES cart pins in distilled water for 10 minutes fixes corrosion. I had a copy of Super Mario World that was dead, black screen every time. I figured what the heck, I've tried rubbing alcohol and erasers already. I boiled it for exactly 10 minutes, let it dry for 2 days in front of a fan. It worked! Booted right up and saved fine. Has anyone else tried this or am I just lucky it didn't fry the board?

Lucky honestly but now I'm tempted to try it on my busted copy of Final Fantasy III.

Wait, you have a busted copy of Final Fantasy III? Like the cartridge is physically cracked or something? I mean, I've had scratched discs before but a busted cart sounds wild. That NES game is already pretty rare and expensive, I'd be way too scared to try anything risky with it. Honestly though if you attempt it, let me know if it works or if your save file just gets wiped, I'm kind of curious now.
