Bought a $2 James Taylor record that skipped so bad I nearly cried... until I cleaned it with wood glue

Found a copy of Sweet Baby James at a thrift store in Portland for two bucks, looked clean but played like a scratched CD. I watched a YouTube tutorial and tried the wood glue trick on it last Thursday, peeled it off after 4 hours and it played almost perfect. Anyone else had mixed results with that method on older records?

Did you sand the glue layer before peeling or just rip it straight off?

Ngl, I just ripped it straight off without sanding and it worked fine for me. The glue layer came off in one clean piece, no residue left behind. But I can see how sanding would help if the glue is really stuck on or old.
