My turntable belt snapped mid-play of Dark Side of the Moon
I was sitting there Friday night, just relaxing with Floyd, and right as Money started the whole thing ground to a halt. The platter just stopped spinning. Got up, checked it out, and sure enough the rubber belt had turned into a sticky mess. Grabbed a replacement kit from a shop downtown for 12 bucks, took about 20 minutes to swap it out, and now it runs fine. Anyone else had a belt just give up after a few years?

Feel for you man, nothing worse than that sudden silence when the music's just hitting its stride. Happened to me with my old Technics a couple years back, same gross melted rubber mess. Glad you got it sorted cheap and easy though, good reminder to keep a spare belt around.

Did you find the old belt had just dried out and cracked first, or did it straight up melt into that sticky goo like mine did?
