My mom's old knitting needle case has a pocket for each hook size from 1957

I was sorting through her stuff last weekend and saw a pattern book from that year with a note inside saying 'this took me 4 months' and it hit me how we finish projects in days now but maybe we miss something along the way, anyone else find old notes or markings in inherited yarn tools that make you stop and think?

Found a pair of scissors in my aunt's sewing box that were older than my dad, and I couldn't even cut a straight line with them. Probably says more about my skills than the scissors though. Guess some things just hit different when you see the time someone actually put into making something.

Man that's exactly how I felt when I found my grandpa's old hand plane in the garage. Couldn't get it to shave wood right but you could tell someone put years into making that thing perfect. Makes you wonder how much we miss out on with all the disposable stuff we use now.
