That chat at the LYS about pooling really got me thinking
I was at Knit Together in Austin last Saturday and this older lady named Carol saw me struggling with a variegated skein. She said I was fighting the yarn instead of just letting it do its thing. Now I'm wondering if I've been stressing over tension and pooling for no reason. Has anyone else just let a chaotic yarn run wild and ended up loving it?

Did you end up trying Carol's approach with that same skein or did you switch to something else? Because I'm curious if just letting go actually worked or if it was more of a headache than she made it sound.

oh I tried it and let me tell you, by "letting go" my skein basically became a cat toy in about five seconds flat. I ended up buying a whole new one and pretending that disaster never happened.
