Warning about acrylic yarn blocking: my scarf went from 60 inches to 48 in one wash
I spent 3 weeks crocheting a waffle stitch scarf for my sister in Portland using super cheap acrylic from a big box store. Threw it in the washer on warm like the label said and it came out a stiff, shrunken mess that looks nothing like the photos online. Has anyone else had their acrylic projects totally deform after blocking or washing?

Yeah acrylic will do that every time, gotta hand wash cold and lay flat to dry.

Hard disagree honestly, I've thrown acrylic sweaters in the washer and dryer on regular cycle for years with zero issues so that hand washing advice feels way too cautious.
