Took my cat to the dog park and he stole the show

I figured my Maine Coon would just hide under the bench, but he walked right up to a Golden Retriever and started doing that weird sideways crab walk till the dog copied him. Made me realize I've been underestimating how brave he is around bigger animals. Has anyone else's cat done something totally unexpected around a different species?

oh man, this is adorable. my cat saw a squirrel through the window once and i expected her to just stare and twitch her tail, but she straight up ran into the glass door face first. the squirrel didn't even flinch, just sat there munching a nut like "what's wrong with you". so yeah, brave move by your cat, mine couldn't even conquer a pane of glass. the crab walk thing is gold though, makes me wonder if my cat has that skill hidden somewhere or if she just uses it to trip me on the stairs.

Guess that squirrel knew it had the home field advantage with a solid barrier between them. Reminds me of how cats seem to treat every new challenge like it's either a full-on battle or a complete mystery. Like when mine sees her reflection in the microwave door and just freezes, trying to figure out if that other cat is a threat or just a really quiet roommate. The crab walk thing might actually be a secret skill they unlock at 3 AM for maximum chaos purposes. Or maybe it's just their way of saying "I'm about to do something dumb, watch this.
