inLooking back, my early portfolio got wrecked by fees. Do new investors still run into that?
Honestly, it's a different world now. Remember when buying a stock cost you ten bucks just for the trade? Now most apps let you do that for free. Even index funds have tiny fees, like a few dollars a year per thousand invested. So newbies can easily avoid the fee nightmare if they pick the right stuff. They're too busy losing money on risky bets instead.

inUnpopular opinion: I discovered a wedding ring in a donated coat pocket and kept it.
Oh man, @william171's story hits home. My buddy found an old military medal in a box of stuff he bought at a garage sale. He finally found the vet's family after checking some local VFW posts online. The guy's grandson drove two hours to get it, said his grandpa never stopped talking about losing it after the war. They both got choked up, it was pretty wild lol. Stuff like that really is worth the hassle.

inI finally chose fair trade materials despite the cost
Okay but when you say your moral stance crumbles at discounts, I mean, that's just being realistic. Not everyone can afford to always pick the ethical option, and saving money on stuff lets you put cash towards other things. Feeling bad for every cheap buy seems like a pretty rough way to shop.

inJust noticed my routine is a mini alibi check.
My local store's footage is so bad though.
