PSA: I found a cracked engine mount on a 737 during a routine walkaround last Thursday

A hairline crack in the forward mount on the left engine. I spotted it because of a tiny oil smear near the bolt head. Are you guys doing a thorough visual check every time or just trusting the paperwork?

Found a crack on a mount once because I tripped over my own bootlace and landed staring right at it. Guess clumsy pays off sometimes.

So you're saying you actually look past the first inch of the mount and check the hard-to-see spots? I used to think a quick glance was fine, especially if the paperwork was all green. But @ivanl76's lucky trip and your oil smear story totally changed my mind. I had a similar wake-up call last year when I found a loose bolt on a flap track that the logbook swore was torqued correctly. Now I get right in there with a flashlight and actually touch the stuff.
