Found a sneaky cause of ice maker failures after 3 calls to the same house in Phoenix
I kept getting service calls for a fridge that wouldn't make ice. Customer said it was a new unit, only 8 months old. I swapped the water valve, then the control board, and the ice maker still wouldn't drop cubes. On the third trip I finally noticed the water line had a tiny kink behind the fridge where it pressed against the wall. That kink was barely letting any water through, but it wasn't leaking so I missed it the first two times. A $5 brass coupler and a straight section of hose later, ice maker works perfect. How do you guys check for hidden water line issues before swapping expensive parts?

Wait, you did two whole service calls before spotting a kink?

Ha! Oh man that reminds me of this time I was trying to fix my mom's printer and spent a whole afternoon replacing ink cartridges before realizing the paper tray was just jammed with a crumpled receipt. She was so mad but I was too embarrassed to admit what I'd done. Sometimes you just get tunnel vision and overlook the obvious thing right in front of you. Happens to the best of us.
