Pro tip: My neighbor said his fridge was 'just old' before I found a $3 door switch was the real problem.

It made me realize how many people write off a whole machine over one cheap part, so what's the most common 'it's just old' fix you've seen lately?

That "just old" mindset drives me nuts. People replace whole lawn mowers over a $10 carburetor kit. My buddy was about to junk a dryer that just needed a new thermal fuse, a five dollar part. It's wild how quick we are to replace instead of a simple fix.

My neighbor spent 80 bucks on a new toaster last week because the old one "seemed slow." I get the point, but how many people actually have the time or skill to track down a thermal fuse and install it? Sometimes paying for new and knowing it works is just easier, right?

Yeah, the "simple fix" thing. I fixed my own dryer with a YouTube video, took twenty minutes.
